Cedric's magical passport takes him to Bali, Indonesia! Who will he meet, and what adventure awaits him?
Yes. Cedric Stuart Hutchison II (aka CedintheCity) was an African-Asian-American educator and travel enthusiast. His legend began in August 2016, when he combined his passions for travel and education to teach English in Beijing. Having never lived outside of the United States, Cedric unknowingly embarked on a journey of self-discovery that would take him to over 30 countries in under three years. Through his travels, he grew to appreciate different cultures and used those experiences to have a lasting impact on children he taught in China, teenagers in the Czech Republic, and young adults in Malaysia before he tragically passed away in 2019 at the age of 27.
We honor Cedric's legacy through the CedintheCity adventure series with hopes of inspiring the next generation. May they encourage you to dream big, put action behind fear, never give up, and be legendary in all you do.
Roosevelt Edwards was born in South Korea and raised in Tennessee. CedintheCity is his debut children’s adventures series and a tribute to his late nephew, Cedric Hutchison II.
When Roosevelt isn’t busy writing about the amazing travel adventures of Cedric, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, where he lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
Flower Baskets & Giant Kites is the third book in the CedintheCity adventure series. This book is special because Cedric's mother, Patty Hutchison, authored it.
Bali was one of Cedric's favorite destinations. After his death, Patty longed to visit the land where her son felt so connected. She met with the guide who toured her son and experienced the exact locations he ventured. She left the country understanding why Cedric felt so much peace there.
Chasity Hampton, founder of Whimsical Designs by CJ, illustrates the CedintheCity franchise. Whimsical Designs by CJ is an Atlanta-based children’s book illustration company focused on developing children’s books that represent every child.
Cedric created the CedintheCity Scholars Program to put feet to his vision to change the face of travel by encouraging African American students to study abroad and supporting their quests to do so.
Cedric was passionate about EDUCATION, TRAVEL, and CULTURE and spent the best years of his life integrating all three. It was from this passion that CedintheCity Scholars was birthed. While Cedric may no longer be with us in the flesh, the Hutchison family continues his legacy as a catalyst for African Americans to expand their horizons and deepen their connectivity to other cultures through global travel.
