Roosevelt was born in Seoul, Korea, and raised in Tennessee. He first realized he wanted to be a writer after taking a creative writing class in college. His inspiration for his stories comes from history, personal life experiences, and his own active imagination. Born in Korea and raised in Tennessee, a sense of global culture was instilled in him at an early age.
Even when he’s not writing, sometimes Roosevelt daydreams about what one of his characters might say or how they would react in a situation. Many of his characters are based on actual people that he knows and this helps him bring stories alive. Roosevelt hopes his books encourage young readers to learn more about travel and the people around them by highlighting other cultures and instilling a lifelong love of reading.
The CedintheCity series introduces Roosevelt’s debut children’s stories. The books are a loving tribute to his late nephew, Cedric Hutchison II, also known as CedintheCity, whose travels around the world and thrill-seeking and generous spirit inspired the writings of these books. When he isn’t busy writing about the amazing world adventures of Cedric, Roosevelt enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, where he lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
